"Gold on the Mountains, an example of banana fiber mosaic art"

The mountain gorillas are a rare species in the world but are found in our country (UGANDA) in Bwindi National Park in South Western Uganda. They are heroes because tourists come to see them there, bringing in foreign currency to boost our economy.

Artists from the Open Vision Youth Club in Entebbe, Uganda create unique portraits of life in their community. Their technique of banana fiber mosaic is original and contemporary.

David Basasira and Julio Lukwago are creating an exhibition of these inspiring artworks to be shown this summer at the iEARN conference in the Netherlands.

My Hero supports these Ugandan artists and the beautiful African mosaics that they produce in their workshop. The works shown above may be purchased from the MY HERO Gallery. Contributions will help support the work of the Open Vision Youth Club. Please contact , Victoria Murphy the MY HERO Gallery Director for more information.
